Who We AreThe Place-Based Education Committee is a group of teachers, nature educators, naturalists, administrators, organization representatives, and concerned citizens who meet to discuss how to engage our community in locally focused education. We have representatives from Surry, Harrisville, Gilsum, Rindge, Keene, Marlow, Alstead, and Hancock. We meet a few times a year to update each other on place-based initiatives in our schools, classrooms, and neighborhoods.

Why We MeetMany educators in the Monadnock region schools are committed to improving schools by connecting citizens to our local nature and history. However, many of these educators are working in isolation. We would like to unite our efforts to engage students through performance tasks that teach students how to think critically and become active members of our community.

"Working collaboratively, we will share resources and form connections between educators and between educators and experts."
